Karl Ludvigsen

After serving in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in West Germany, Karl Ludvigsen built his career as an automotive executive. He began designing front-drive prototypes for General Motors, eventually moving to product development at Fiat and Lancia, before he became vice president of Ford of Europe. Ludvigsen, however, is perhaps best known for his long-standing editorial efforts at Sports Cars Illustrated, Motor Trend, and Car and Driver. Throughout the course of his 50 years in automotive journalism, he has authored more than 15 titles on such racing names as Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart, Bruce McLaren, and Emerson Fittipaldi.
